15 April 2025:

Today was so freaking fire, one of the best days of the year so far! I met up with 2 of my friends at around 12:30 to go walk around west kowloon and go to the art museum! I love my friends they are so nice and I love talking and hanging out with them! The weather was so amazing, the sun was shining and the sea was vast and beautiful! We first ate some pizza at this sorta expensive resteraunt and it was pretty delicous if not a little overpriced! Then we loitered around and went into M+ art museum! The student tickets were 60HKD which wasn't too expensive, and the art gallery was amazing! I've been there a few times in the past, and they always change up the pieces exhibited and add different like galleries its great! so everytime there different stuff to see! My favourite art piece in the entire museum was The Lovers - Marina Abramovic (I put an image of it down below, its the photo with the ufo drawing thing), its so like evocative and esoteric and idk... its just so mysterious but ancient and feels like theres so much history in it. ALSO little rant, as a "modern" art lover, i don't understand people who hate (i mean completely despise) modern art! I mean I sorta understand their viewpoint, but I feel they just misunderstand the purpose of a lot of "modern" art. You are meant to think about it, develop your own interpretation of it, like its not meant to *just* look cool or impressive! And it doesn't have to have a defined meaning or whatever, like the fun in it is analyzing it yourself! Its not just about what you see, but what that piece makes you think... idk how to describe its so cool! :3

We loitered around in the park so much and drank coke and ate processed food it was so fun! We built this precariously balanced tower of soda cups and packaging and talked about music and stuff! And that was pretty much my day it was so amazing!

Yay today has been mostly pretty amazing! I woke up pretty late (like 10:00) and practiced some guitar! Then I had a little hospital checkup but after that I went over to wan chai computer center to get a 1tb ssd and 8gb ram to upgrade my moms old laptop, a thinkpad x201i! I dug this out a closet a few days ago (right before the trip to kyoto) and my mom gave it to me cuz it was super old (from around 2008) and it was like abadoned tech. Its really neat so I decided to upgrade the specs a little bit and install linux on it! Anyways I went over to wanchai computer center and got all the parts i needed but unfortunatly got kinda scammed/upcharged when it came to the price...I accidentally bought my parts from the one store in the shop with the worst reputation! I didnt know about this before then but this store is supposably very scummy. Like very high upcharging, stealing parts from devices they claim to "repair" etc etc. They upcharged me like 2x for the parts I got, so I lost like 300HKD! At least i learned my lesson now, always research stores before buying from them!

After I got home I transferred all my moms old files onto a flash drive and began swapping out the ram and storage! It was suprisingly very easy, thinkpads are so modular! like you just gotta screw out this plastic thing and put in the ram and it just works! I then installed linux mint onto a flash drive since ive heard linux mint is the best for beginners, and attempted to install it... BUT FOR SOME REASON THE THINKPAD JUST COUDN'T DETECT THE FLASH DRIVE! it was so annoying I tried to troubleshoot it for the next 2-3 hours... the laptop just completely wasn't detecting the flash drive in the bios for no reason! I went to sleep cuz i was getting sleepy (it was 12:30 at night) and woke up in the morning and retried once again. I eventually tried randomly pressing the different fn keys during the boot up AND SOMEHOW PRESSING F3 FIXED IT??? like it just went directly into the linux mint setup screen which is what is supposed to happen normally..! im so glad it worked out though!

Unfortunatly today was the last day of the Kyoto trip! I woke up at 9:00 today and ate a ton of food at the hotel breakfast brunch! They have these like really freaking delicous hash potatoes there, its like a standard hashbrown but a small potato clump instead of a large clump! They have a higher ratio of crispy bits to potato-ey bits compared to normal hashbrowns, which I strongly prefer! I ate like sooo much of them today during breakfast it was so yummy! After breakfast we wandered around Kyoto for a little bit and found this really cool arcade!! I spent 1000yen there playing racing games with my dad it was so fun! The arcade is massive and the games are so much better and cheaper than the ones you find in Hong Kong! I won most of the games >w

`

When we got to the airport we first went to a resteraunt in there for lunch and it was SOOO GOOD!! I had konkatsu pork and holy poop it was so yummy! I did not expect an airport resteraunt to be the second best meal I had during this trip but it was so crispy and yummy!! After that we went through border security and it was PACKED. Like literally waves of people, the line stretched across like at least 5 times it was crazy! I've never seen that many people in an airport before. After that we all just rested for a little bit and then boarded the plane and here I am now! Im writing this on the plane so yeah thats all for today! The trip was so fun!

Yay today was very fun and eventful too! Its the second last day of my vacation to Kyoto and today was super fun! Woke up around 9:30 and immedietally headed to the train station to get breakfast! I had two SUPER yummy fried curry buns, and a decent potato bread bun! After that we started trying to figure out how to get to the "Sagona Romantic Train"! Its like a scenic train route in the countryside! We took da JR Sagona Line to get there and OMG the views on the way were so amazing! We were headed to the more naturey and countryside area of japan and the weather was so amazing so it was just so nice! There were huge valleys of trees and green fields!! Here are some photos!

We got to sagona station and had to walk for around like 15min to get to the scenic train thingy and THE WEATHER AND SCENERY WAS ACTUALLY SO AMAZING i thought the views from the train were amazing, BUT WALKING AROUND WAS SO EVEN MORE AMAZING! the sun was shining and the grass was green and it was just nice! Heres some photos!

We got to the scenic train entrance around 50min early so we just wandered around for a little bit! It was so nice and relaxing! After it was close to the start-time we went into the entrance and boarded the scenic train and IT WAS SO FIRE! The view outside was actually amazing, huge valleys with clear water running beneath it, actually breathtaking!

After the train we wandered in the little town near the train station! It's a like tourist town but it was still really fun to wander around! We went into this really cute british style teahouse and I had some scones and tea! The cafe was super nice and the tea and scones were super delicous! After that we went to the hotel, rested, and had dinner! The dinner was really good, fried steak curry rice! And then its now, with me writing this little blog entry! :D Fun day!

Today was super fun and did a ton of cool stuff yay! Still on vacation in Kyoto its so fun. I woke up at like 8:00, t hen I ate a huge plate of bacon+hashbrowns at da hotel breakfest buffet. After that we went out! We first went to Maruyama Park and OMG ITS SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!! like its so serene and peaceful and the weather was actually perfect it was amazing! then we went to Sangusagendo Temple and that was amazing. It's a temple and it was so beautiful and amazing! The main highlight was the main hall which contained 1001 statues of different gods/deities. I don't really believe in any gods myself but I still pray anyways! (just in case its real! :3) It was extremley spritual and awedropping, the sheer amount of statues and altars. I prayed to both a god of knowledge/art, which was holding a lute, and the god of music, so hopefully I have good luck in my musical endeavors! :D Here some photos from the those places!

After this I ate lunch and it was SOOOO GOOODDDDD it was kotatsu pork and it was the best i've ever had. if you dont know kotatsu is a fried pork dish, and it was so much better then the ones I had in hong kong, like perfectly crispy! And it really wasn't that expensive too, it was like 60HKD for some really well made konkatsu yay! Then I rested in the hotel room for a lil bit and worked on this website! THEN WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF TODAY! We went to this really cool metal bar (me with my parents LOL) and it was so cool!! its called "ROCK BAR CRUNCH" its awesome! It's like a tiny little bar where you listen to metal and talk to the owner about metal its so awesome. there were some other people in the bar and I talked to them and it was so fun! we get to queue music videos it was great! please do go check it out if possible!
